This holiday season one of the best things that a family can do is have fun with interesting games. It not only helps to pass the time but to also add an extra air of excitement to the holiday season. There are many games that can be played from trivia to present games. Each of these is fun ways to pass Christmas and will help create fond memories that will last a lifetime. You may have some fun games that your family does every year, but it is never too late to learn some new ones to add some freshness to family traditions. Here is some fun and interesting holiday games you family can play this year.

The first idea is a trivia game. You can do several options based on popular shows or games you have played. However, the topics all have to be about Christmas. My favorite is holiday Jeopardy and Family Feud. In Holiday Jeopardy you set up a board of questions and assign point values to them. The person who answers the most questions and the double jeopardy at the end wins. In Holiday Family Feud it is much trickier. Family members have to guess the most common responses to holiday themed questions. This is a great team game and would be great to play with extended family.

Everyone loves to sing holiday songs and carols. So why not have a holiday karaoke contest? You can use a karaoke machine or use your videogame system. There are many different karaoke games out there and I'm sure you will find just the right one for your contest. You can even do it the old fashioned way and have the audience judge by applause who did the best. Everyone will love it.

If you are lucky enough to have a white Christmas you can take it outside and have fun with snow ball fights, building snow forts, and snowmen. Just make sure everyone dresses warmly and doesn't through ice which can get people injured. If possible get your neighbors to join in on the fun and with events like sledding you can put together you own mini winter Olympics.

Play party games on your children's Wii. I can never say enough about this video game system as it is the first one that families can truly play together. Since the controls are motion sensors they are easy for everyone in the family to learn and it has a high capacity for multiplayer play with a wide variety of party games. If you are at a loss for a fun group activity for the family just rent a couple of Nintendo Wii games and cut loose.

We can't talk about holiday games without talking about Secret Santa. The game is a holiday present that would be perfect for Christmas Day. The rules vary but the most interesting version I found was Dirty Santa. Essential it is a gift grab free for all. Everyone takes turn rolling dice and if you get doubles you can get a gift. However, don't think you can keep your spoils easily. If another player rolls doubles they can steal your gift too. You can only protect gifts from theft if you get a pair of sixes. It is definitely a game that will be a lot of fun.

Something special you can do for your children is to have them get a letter from Santa Clause. It will be a great way to make Christmas special for them.
